Rather than create a figure with all the implied permanence of traditional mosaic, Nude celebrates the human form in all its fragility. The materials selected - cork, canvas and wood, held together only by metal pins - represent those whose beauty comes from wear, their scratches and discoloration a testimony of their history and a metaphor for the way in which we construct our selves from the fragments of our own experience.
